First in Critical Access
St. Helena Parish Hospital became Louisiana’s first Critical Access Hospital in November 1999. Critical Access hospitals are special rural hospitals under a federal program that helps assure these needed hospitals remain open and providing needed services to their communities through enhanced reimbursement for Medicare patients.

The Critical Access Program provides security in your local hospital remaining open for years to come plus the advantage of improving the facility and services that can be offered.
